EXP2 gone gold!
After a long period of production time,
weīre proud to introduce the new TERRANOVA Expansion Pack. On this page
you can find anything about EXP2.
Topics:

Armageddon |
Is it the end of the world? Weīre not sure. However, we can imagine it
would look like this terrain. The vulcano can be climbed and you can risk
a quick look into the crater. Be warned: If you fall down, you can take
your death as a guarantee.
Limitations: Inside the
crater you even can see lava, however we didnīt manage to make this lava deadly. In other words: If you jump or fall into the crater you can either
kill yourself or you have to dive until you drown.

Balnakiel |
Originally created for the first EXP, this terrain
features a nice elevation in combination with tall grass. For sure one of
the prettiest EXP2 terrains.

Blizzard |
A snow landscape was definitely missed in EXP1. EXP2 corrects that. Snow terrains
didnīt seem to be very
popular. Only 15% of the people voted for a snow terrain. However, addressing their
wishes, we created Blizzard.

Desert
Storm |
A truly desert
terrain, adapted from the first EXP. Sandy areas at lower levels,
rocky mountains and a few high-leveled plateaus.

Egypt |
This terrain was the
first we did for EXP2. As an adaptation of the Delta Force: Land
Warrior Demo Mission terrain it features 2 great pyramids, deep sand
and a very smooth looking surface (LW style).
Limitations: The
experinced DF2 player already knows, that the Khufu pyramid on the
one hand is one of the greatest objects within DF2, on the other
hand it has some serious glitches. The polygon object is not designed
properly and so, in certain areas it can happen that you fall
through the structure. That way, youīre inside the pyramid but you
can watch everything and everyone outside and even shoot your
opponent without being
detected. We can only encourage all players to play fair as this
can riun the game play. The pyramid glitch is also the reason,
why the EXP2 missions for this terrain use them only as decoration,
there are no spawn zones inside. Also, you will never have to enter
them to win a mission. You can see an image showing the pyramid
glitch by clicking here.

More than 30 % of
the people voted for tall grass terrains. So here goes another one.

Yet another tall
grass terrain. This terrain has a nice river running across the
entire terrain.

Route
66 |
Maybe the most
famous EXP1 terrain converted for DF2. This one provides a LW-style
surface, a huge highway runs across the entire terrain.

EXP2 provides more than 50 multiplayer missions,
mostly for basic gametypes such as DM, TDM, KOTH & TKOTH. We didnīt
manage to create missions of all types for all terrains, however our main
goal was and still is to provide new terrains and new nice features.
There are so many talented map makers out there and those will get a lot a
new material to play with.
It all depends on you: We provide the foundation, you
create cool stuff!

While EXP1 concentrated fully on the multiplayer part of DeltaForce, EXP2
goes one step further.
EXP2 comes with 6 singleplayer missions, with all the sounds you expect
from the standard missions. These missions have been fully integrated
and come with self-produced audio briefings. Special thanks go to Caligirl
who did a great job! The new quick missions can be found at the bottom of
the list.
Limitations:
Itīs recommended to play the single player missions only as quick
missions. You can choose to play them as cooperative missions of
course, but this may result in a strange or even faulty gameplay.
Again: Choose Quick Missions and select the game, never try to host
them online.

EXP2 adds some new features to DeltaForce2:
Smooth texturing
Many people complained about the "blocky" voxel engine being
used for DF1 and DF2. LW eliminated that by using the next generation
voxel engine.
Terranova has figured out a way to "imitate" this new look.
Pixels at short and medium distance are now drastically reduced. To get an
idea of the new smooth surface you can click here.
While LW looses the ability to draw tall grass, EXP2 only uses this new
technique on certain "non-tall grass" terrains giving
you the best of BOTH worlds.
Additional sound effects
Our own DV figured out, how to integrate new in-game
sounds. We used this new method to improve the quality of rainy weather as
well as a few other surprises.
Check out a sound sample recorded live at the
Battlefield to get the idea...

Every major project canīt include everything that was originally planned
for of the product. EXP2 is no exception. Below you can find 2 terrains,
which didnīt make it to the final version, not because of technical
problems but due to time limitations.
Swimming Pool:
The idea was to create a little settlement with some houses, park ways
& gardens. One villa was supposed to have a nice swimming pool in
itīs garden and maybe even a bikini girl ;) - check the screenshot out here.
SUPER-BOWL:
Why not turn DeltaForce into a sports game? The idea was to have a CTF
game in a huge super-bowl arena with additional sound effects such as
"GOOOOOOAAAAAL!" Technically that definitely would work. It was
just the lack of time which stopped us!
We still like this idea a lot. What do you think?
Check out a very early "pre-alpha" screeenshot here.
